Invited by the Académie de France in Rome and its director Sam Stourdzé, interior architect and designer India Mahdavi worked in six historic rooms at the Villa Medici. A project in collaboration with the Mobilier national and with the support of the Fondation Bettencourt Schueller. Lhe Elements room is the one that has undergone the most modifications. It has been stripped of its bed and now features a rug by Aubusson manufacturer Robert Four, whose motifs echo the garden designs.
Creators and designers have returned to Aubusson, in the Creuse region of France, renowned for its mastery of tapestry. After the heyday of Jean Lurçat, Braque and Cocteau, it had been somewhat neglected until its inscription on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2009.
